Poppy is an approximately 8–10-year-old Australian Shepherd who entered our care as a stray in poor condition. She required immediate medical intervention, including a front right leg amputation. While recovering, she developed significant lameness in her right hind leg, which has been diagnosed as a suspected cranial cruciate ligament (ACL) tear due to compensatory strain as a tripod dog.

This injury is causing pain, instability, and difficulty bearing weight on her primary stabilizing limb. Without surgical intervention, her mobility will continue to decline, and her ability to function comfortably as a tripod will be severely compromised. Poppy also has a previously noted jaw injury, though she is currently able to eat and drink.

Her condition requires prompt orthopedic surgery to restore stability, alleviate pain, and support long-term mobility and quality of life.
